ABOUT US

 

A to Z Speech Therapy follows a whole child approach, which allows us to help lay the foundation of learning and build skills that children need to do on their own. Our therapy will create a positive environment along with support to create successful outcomes and long-term opportunities. 

 

 

Allyson Weinstein-Rosen is owner and founder of A to Z Speech Therapy in Brooklyn Heights. She is a New York State licensed, ASHA certified Speech-Language Pathologist.  Allyson received her Bachelors of Arts in Communicative Disorders at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and went on to receive her Masters of Science. in Speech-Language Pathology at Hunter College School of Health Sciences. She started her career working at various hospitals with neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients, training and supervising graduate students and clinical fellows, and working on interdisciplinary teams. She went on to work in a Special Education setting, treating children with speech, language, learning and pragmatic language disorders, while also working as an undergraduate clinical instructor at Touro College and opening A to Z Speech Therapy in the fall of 2003.  

 

Allyson provides diagnostic and therapeutic services to pediatric patients of all ages with various communicative and learning disorders.  She is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and American Academy of Private Practice in Speech Pathology and Audiology (AAPPSPA) as well as a certified Fast ForWord provider.  Allyson enjoys collaborating with parents, teachers, doctors and other therapists to provide an individualized and functional, whole child approach to therapy. She has proudly assembled a dedicated team of therapists who provide the highest level of service to children of all ages.

JENNIFER BASNER, MS CCC-SLP

Jennifer Basner holds a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Hofstra University, a Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) from the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA). Jennifer specializes in providing therapy to children who present with receptive and expressive language delays and disorders, deficits in social pragmatic skills, and articulation and phonological disorders. Her special interests include expanding language skills through play-based activities for
early learners as well as working with individuals to improve social pragmatic language ability. 

CARLY FOWLER, MS CCC-SLP

Carly Fowler is a Speech Language Pathologist who holds New York License and ASHA certification. Carly received her Masters of Science in Speech Language Pathology from the University of Nebraska Omaha. Carly has experience working in schools, as well as, outpatient pediatric clinics. She has worked with children of all ages. Carly originates from Colorado but has lived and worked in Nebraska, Minnesota and New York. She specializes in receptive and expressive language therapy,  articulation and phonological disorders, fluency disorder as well as social pragmatics.

EMMA TUSHMAN, MS CF-SLP TSSLD

Emma Tushman is a familiar face to many at A to Z as she was formerly our office manager! She is a Speech-Language Pathology Clinical Fellow and New York State Licensure Applicant that has received her Master of Science at New York University and Bachelor of Arts at Muhlenberg College.

 

Emma has administered comprehensive diagnostic evaluations and screenings, assessing all domains of communication across the lifespan. She has provided individualized treatment to pediatric and adult clients in various areas, including articulation and phonological disorders, expressive/receptive language disorders, fluency disorders, Aphasia, Dysarthria, Dysphonia, Dysphagia, cognitive-linguistic deficits, and Apraxia. Emma is experienced in working in various settings including public schools, clinics, and acute care hospital settings.

SHAINA SMITH, OFFICE MANAGER

Shaina Smith is the Office Manager at A to Z Speech Therapy with administrative experience working for political campaigns, insurance companies, and non-profits. She studied Communication with a focus on Media and Journalism at SUNY Geneseo. She is happy to join the A to Z Speech Therapy team and help families provide care for their little ones!
